In other logo news…
Starbucks is updating its design to reflect corporate changes and greater emphasis on business beyond coffee. It is a clean look consumers should expect from many of the worlds top name brands. It seems as though 2011 could be the year of rebranding and new logo design as companies use years of saved up cash to invest in greater business opportunities.

Additionally there are really great comments from people who want to bash the change without putting forth the effort to blog about it or rant across social media outlets. Actually they react without thinking. Here are two of my favorite comments from earlier today that were just too good to ignore.
To gerberfranz: Does the slight modification of the logo mean you will refuse to be a big supporter of Starbucks? Perhaps you are an unhappy investor since you refer to it as SBUX. The company’s share price is at a 5 year high and profits doubled in 2010. Also as a business person you should understand that putting your name on a logo does not result in “free advertisement”. People who see you on the street will still know you bought your coffee at Starbucks.
To scarletdisco: The company has proven it can still compete with giant McDonald’s and small locally owned coffee houses. It isn’t going to tank anytime soon. Also, if you are not capable of making the “brain connections” necessary to identify the brand, then you probably haven’t looked at their logo for several decades.
